The Elephant Mahmoud

Allah [Subhaana wa TaAllah] tells us in the Qur-an stories of animals and people to show us some secrets and to teach us to avoid some bad ends that befell them. Please read this interesting story with your children.

The Army of the Elephant (Qur-an 105:1-5)

This event happened during the birth year of the Prophet Muhammad [peace be upon him].

Abrahah Al-Ashram, the governor of Yemen, built a house (like the Ka'bah at Makkah) called Al-Qullais in San'a (the capital of Yemen) to call the Arabs to perform the pilgrimage in San'a instead of the Ka'bah in Makkah, with the intention of re-routing the trade and benefits from Makkah to Yemen.

HADITH: Establishment of the Ties of Blood Relationship

Salman bin 'Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "When you break fast, you should do it with a date-fruit for there is blessing in it, and if you do not find a date-fruit, break it with water for it is pure." Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) added:  "Charity towards a poor person is charity, and towards a relation is both charity and maintaining the ties (of kinship)."  [Tirmidhi]

HADITH: Prohibition of Appointing an Aspirant Person to a Public Office of Authority

Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:

I called on the Prophet (peace be upon him) with two of my cousins.  One of them said to him: "O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) appoint me governor of some land over which Allah has given you authority." The other also requested for something of the same nature.  Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "By Allah we do not appoint someon to this post who seeks it or someon who contends for it." [Al Bukhari and Muslim].

HADITH: Patience and Perseverance

Abu Malik Al-Harith bin Asim Al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:

"Wudu' is half of Salah; the utterance of (Al-hamdu lillah - all praise belongs to Allah) fills the Scales; the utterance of (Subhaana Allah wa Al-hamdu lillah - Allah is far removed from every imperfection and all praise belongs to Allah) fills the space between the heavens and the earth, and Salat (prayer) is light; and charity is the proof of Faith; and endurance is light, and the Qur-an is a plea in your favour or against you. Every person departs; he either ransoms it or puts it into perdition."  [Muslim]

HADITH: Sincerity and Significance of Intentions for All Actions, Apparent and Hidden

Umar bin Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:

Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "The deeds are considered by the intentions, and a person will get the reward according to his intention. So whoever emigrated for Allah and His Messenger, his emigration will be for Allah and His Messenger, and whoever emigrated for worldly benefits or for a woman to marry, his emigration would be for what he emigrated for." - Al Bukhari and Muslim

What is Quran?

The Qur'an (in Anglicized form: Koran ) is certainly the greatest literary work in classical Arabic and for all Muslims stands as the definitive word of God (in Arabic: Allah ) spoken to the prophet Muhammad by the angel Gabriel. When reading the Qur'an , you should realize that, for all Muslims, the text you are reading is quite literally the voice of God; because the Qur'an is the direct speech of God in Arabic, translation of the

What is Islam?

The name of the religion is Islam, which comes from an Arabic root word meaning "peace" and "submission." Islam teaches that one can only find peace in one's life by submitting to Almighty God (Allah) in heart, soul and deed. The same Arabic root word gives us "Salaam alaykum," ("Peace be with you"), the universal Muslim greeting.
